THUNDER BAY – Firefighters had to break down the door of a Simpson Street apartment after reports of smoke were called in Friday afternoon.
It turns out it was a pot left on a stove, District Chief Craig Venables said.

“We got a call for a structural fire. One of the tenants in the upstairs apartment called it in. Once we got here there was smoke in the hallway. We had to use forcible entry to enter apartment No. 5, where we found a pot on the stove,” Venable said.

“We didn’t need to do much but remove the pot on the stove and ventilate the place.”

No injuries were reported, he added.

“Nobody hurt, nobody home,” he said.
