THUNDER BAY — Over 1,500 Hydro One customers were affected by an extended power outage on a cold Sunday evening.
The utility said the power went out just after 4 p.m in a broad swath of rural Thunder Bay townships including Scoble, Pardee, Hardwick, Gillies, Pearson, O'Connor, Blake, Strange, Lybster and Marks, and a portion of Oliver Paipoonge.
According to Hydro One's outage map, it was initially estimated that power would be restored to all customers by 9:15 pm.
However the utility later issued an update that said repairs were completed by 8:30 pm.
It blamed the outbreak on unspecified equipment failure.
