Power outage affects thousands in region

Hydro One says its first attempt to fix the problem failed. A crew has been dispatched to locate the cause of the power outage and fix it.

THUNDER BAY – More than 3,400 Hydro One customers may be without power for most of the morning.

The utility said they’re unsure what caused the outages, which affect customers in the unorganized section of Thunder Bay, Pamela Lake, Longlac, Leduc Croll, Long Lake 58 First Nation, Ginoogaming First Nation, Caramat, Beardmore, Daley, Naking, Kilkenny, Ashmore, Lindsley, Aroland First Nation, Errington and Rocky Bay First Nation.

The outage began just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning and the first attempt to restore power was unsuccessful.

A crew has been dispatched to locate and repair the cause of the outage.

Hydro One estimates power should be restored by noon.
