Power outage affects up to 1,000 in Current River

Bird or animal strike blamed for situation.

THUNDER BAY – As many as 1,000 residents in the Current River area were without power for a significant portion of Tuesday afternoon.

According to Thunder Bay Hydro’s outage map, a bird or some type of other animal contacted a power line, causing the stoppage.

There is no estimate to how long power will remain out, but crews are on site.
