Power outage affects up to 1,600 customers

Power should be restored by 9:30 a.m.

THUNDER BAY  -- The power should be back on for up to 1,500 customers in the vicinity of Lakehead University by 9:30 a.m.

Synergy North said a pole fire is the cause of the outage, which affects residents and businesses in the area contained by John Street, Balmoral Street, Algonquin Avenue and Ravenwood Avenue.

Some customers may be restored earlier.

The power outage was also affecting traffic signals at Balmoral Street and Oliver Road.

Synergy North said it is also dealing with an outage in the area of John Street, Van Norman Street, Rockwood Avenue and Algonquin Avenue. Up to 150 customers are affected.
