THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Hydro crews continue to work on a downed power line on Highway 61 but staff but ten times more customers were without power earlier on Friday afternoon.

Approximately 100 customers are still without power in the Scotland Street and Mount McRae area due to a broken pole.

Those crews restored power to the city's East End within an hour of an outage that impacted 900 customers around 2 p.m.

At its height, the outage stretched from Findlayson to Prince Arthur Boulevard with some losing power on McKellar and Mission islands.

Thunder Bay Hydro communications officer Eileen Dias said some crews are engaged in routine inspection and localized testing in the city's south side.

"We're on it. It's daytime so we can see things so restoration can come quickly," she said.

"We have crews on at full strength."
