A Thunder Bay man charged in a murder case dating back more than a decade ago was in court Monday as lawyers prepare for the start of his trial.
Michael Kelly, 64, is charged in connection with the disappearance and death of 57-year-old Judy Thibault.
She was reported missing in November 2000, and her remains were found four years later in the Dorion area.
Kelly was Thibault's common-law partner when she disappeared.
He was living in Alberta when police arrested him in October 2009, and charged him with first-degree murder.
The pre-trial motions will continue for two more days later this month.
Kelly’s trial by jury is set to begin Jan. 9, 2012.
