Province enhancing public reporting of COVID-19 cases

A new dedicated webpage will provide details on the number of cases and tests involving COVID-19 across the province.

The province launched a new dedicated webpage to enhance public reporting on COVID-19. It can be found at covid-19.ontario.ca.

THUNDER BAY - In the province of Ontario there are more than 1,700 cases of COVID-19 and the provincial government is making it easier to access information on the ever-evolving situation.

On Monday, the provincial government launched a new dedicated website to enhance public reporting on the number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario.

As of Monday, March 30, there are 1,706 cases of COVID-19 and 23 deaths in the province. There have been 48,461 tests completed and 431 cases have been resolved.

In the city of Thunder Bay there are three confirmed cases.

According to data collected between Jan. 15 and March 29, of those infected, 857 are male and 837 are female. In terms of the demographics, 42 cases include those 19-years-old and younger, 1,319 of people between the ages of 20 and 64-years-old, and 343 of those are 65-years-old and over.

"Ontario has been diligently monitoring and taking decisive action to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep Ontarians informed," said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health in a release issued on Monday.

"We will continue to work with Public Health Ontario, public health units and the health sector to have and report on the best possible data to help us understand the scope of the COVID-19 outbreak in our province and inform our collective response to keep all Ontarians safe and healthy."

The data is gathered from public health units across the province and will be updated every day at 10:30 a.m.

The webpage will also provide more insights into trends related to geography, exposure, and severity.
