THUNDER BAY -- Ontario is renewing its Long Term Energy Plan, and they're looking for feedback.

At the Prince Arthur Hotel Wednesday evening, Ministry of Energy representatives held a public consultation to find out what people want from provincial energy policy.

It will be the guiding document for Ontario energy policy for the next three years, but before the Long Term Energy Plan can be written, Ministry representatives are looking for feedback from Thunder Bay and the region.

Several ministry spokespeople were on hand to receive feedback and explain various policies to the public.

Eric Gilmour is a Lakehead University student, and he said he wanted to know more about what the province is doing to meet its carbon goals.

Ministry representatives also held a stakeholder meeting with relevant groups in the region earlier in the day, including Common Voice Northwest.

However not everyone was happy with the public consultations, with some saying they wanted to see a different format.

Officials with the Ministry of Energy said there will be 16 public consultations like this, happening across the province, including one in Peterborough on Thursday.

However, if you're not able to make to one of these in person consults - or even if you are - you're asked to submit your feedback on the long term energy plan online, through the Ontario Environmental Registry website.

After that, those comments will be compiled, and used when the ministry puts together the Long Term Energy Plan next year.
