The provincial NDP continues to hammer the McGuinty government over its decision to deny a wood supply to the Hudson Sawmill near Sioux Lookout.

The provincial NDP continues to hammer the McGuinty government over its decision to deny a wood supply to the Hudson Sawmill near Sioux Lookout.

MPP Howard Hampton (NDP, Kenora-Rainy River) said dozens of residents in the Sioux Lookout area have sent letters to the Premier to protest the decision. Hampton said the move will lead to the closure of the sawmill and destroy 600 good jobs.

Forestry minister Michael Gravelle said the wood competition has been working in a fair and transparent way. Gravelle said if it were up to him, he would award wood to everyone who asked for it but that would not be responsible.
