The province will reveal on March 25 how it plans to eliminate a record deficit of nearly $25 billion.

That's when Finance Minister Dwight Duncan will table the budget. Duncan has already said it will take longer than five years to get back to balanced books.

Economists have speculated recently that the province would be fighting an uphill battle if it wanted to take care of its deficits within seven years.

A recent Royal Bank of Canada forecast predicts that Ontario would see growth of 3.3 per cent this year and 4.1 per cent next year, which could mean greatly increased revenues for the province.
