Provincial grant will fund Eco-Superior local food strategy
Eco-Superior is receiving $212,000 to help fund a three year food strategy.
The money is being handed down from the province through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Executive Director Ellen Mortfield says it's about more than just encouraging people to eat local.
“It’s not only having more people eat local, but ensuring that local food is accessible to everyone, used and marketed effectively within the community,” she said.
Mortfield says they will be hiring someone to head the strategy and the money will also fund pilot projects like school programs.
