HERON BAY, Ont.— Pukaskwa National Park has released details of the staged reopening of the only national park in northern Ontario.

The park on Lake Superior, southeast of Marathon, began offering limited camping services last week at the Hattie Cove Campground.

The number of campsites and comfort station washrooms has been reduced.

As of July 15, the park will resume additional services and facilities.

These include opening more campground sites and washrooms; backcountry hiking, paddling and camping; and bookings for oTENTik (accommodation that is a cross between a tent and a cabin).

Parks Canada says the camping experience at Pukaskwa will be different from previous seasons.

Visitors should expect delays in services and accessing facilities.

Campsites at Hattie Cove have always been, and continue to be, available on a first-come, first-stay basis.

The visitor centre and park store remain closed until further notice.

Events, group and interpretation activities also remain suspended indefinitely.
