THUNDER BAY -- It appears the Conservative nomination in Thunder Bay-Superior North is no secret after all.

A check on the Elections Canada website shows former  mayoral candidate and city councillor Frank Pullia was named the winner of the contest on April 19. However, when contacted earlier this week, Pullia said he could neither "confirm nor deny" whether or not he was the candidate.

Pullia is expected to be formally named the candidate in the riding, which encompasses the north side of Thunder Bay, north to Greenstone and several remote First Nations and east beyond Marathon.

Pullia ran for mayor unsuccessfully five times and held at-large seats on Thunder Bay city council on three different terms between 1994 to 2018.
