Natasha Belisle is about to show the public her production value.
Belisle is one of 29 Confederation College film production students who will put their work on the big screen at Silver City Theatre Thursday, April 17. The public viewing will mark the climax of a project that has been in the making since September.
“We’re just hoping the community comes out and enjoys our films," Belisle said. "We’ve worked really hard and we’re really excited for the community to come out and see our work."
The 29 films being screened, all between five and 10 minutes long, cover a variety of genres including comedy, horror and western.
“They’ve put in a lot of hard work in over the past year," said film production professor Lee Chambers. "(Students) are taking everything they’ve learned about cinematography, production design, art direction, sound recording and editing.
“Even though the movies may only be five to 10 minutes in length, they have a lot of the same qualities as a major motion picture."
The college's film production program gives students a chance to shoot with top-of-the line equipment. That equipment includes Arri Alexa cameras, which were used by Academy Award Best Picture nominees Gravity and The Wolf of Wall Street.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. It's free and open to the public.
