THUNDER BAY — If you feel the ground shake in the next few days, it likely is not a cause for concern.

Pioneer Construction Inc. has notified Newswatch that there will be a quarry blast in the area of Copenhagen Road and Hwy 11/17 within the next few days.

Quarry blasting includes a controlled use of explosives to break rock into manageable pieces for extraction and processing.

The method is used to access and extract materials such as stone, gravel, and other aggregates needed for construction.

Quarry blasting is not uncommon for the company and is one of the most efficient methods for breaking rock.

Pioneer Construction Inc. does not issue public alerts with specific blast time to deter spectators, prioritizing safety.
