A Quebec-based company says it may pursue Thunder Bay as a preferred site for a new wind farm tower manufacturing plant that could service Ontario’s wind energy market.
Fabrication Delta, located in Saint-Siméon, Quebec, has announced a partnership with Horizon Wind Inc., the company behind the proposed Big Thunder Wind Park.
Fabrication Delta sales manager Elie Arsenault said they are looking for a viable location to build a plant.
But he admits that choosing Thunder Bay is contingent on Horizon Wind obtaining the necessary government approvals to proceed with its project on the Norwester mountain range.
Arsenault added that a manufacturing facility could start going up in the next six months, with start up costs of about a million dollars.
