THUNDER BAY -- Soap box racers will remain in park after organizers were forced to cancel the weekend event Saturday.

Organizers called off the 13th annual Soap Box Race in support of the George Jeffrey Children’s Centre Foundation due to the weather conditions.

“Mother nature didn’t cooperate with us very much so we’ve had to cancel the soap box races,” said executive director Mary Anne Comuzzi.

Comuzzi added regardless of the wet weather, the event raised $33,300.

The event will not be rescheduled for this year.
