THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada now expects the rainfall total in the City of Thunder Bay during a three-day period will finish at the lower end of its projected range.
A rainfall warning remained in effect Friday morning for the city and areas as far west as Fort Frances,
Environment Canada said between 60 and 100 millimetres of rain could fall over three days ending Saturday morning.
As of 11 a.m. Friday, slightly less than 30 mm was recorded at Thunder Bay Airport, with other monitoring stations including rural areas reporting varying amounts between 25 and 50 mm.
Meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said "Once it's all said and done, the Thunder Bay area is likely to see the lower end of that warning range, so closer to 60 mm. The 100 speaks more to areas farther west."
Flisfeder said Atikokan had recorded 75 mm by mid-morning Friday.
He said that after this weather system moves out of the region, Thunder Bay can still expect to experience what he called "hit and miss showers" right through Sunday.
