THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada forecasters project Thunder Bay could receive as much as 100 mm of rain before the weather system that entered the region early Thursday is gone.
It's a significant change from the forecast issued Wednesday, which predicted a maximum rainfall of 80 mm.
At a minimum, Environment Canada expects that what it calls this "long episode of rain" will drop a total of 60 mm of rain on the city by Saturday morning.
It says rainfall will be heavy at times, potentially including thunderstorms.
The current forecast also holds out the possibility of showers on Sunday.
At present, there is no prospect of sunshine until Monday.
