THUNDER BAY -- Some old wounds were opened in Queen's Park Monday regarding flood relief in the Northwest.

THUNDER BAY -- Some old wounds were opened in Queen's Park Monday regarding flood relief in the Northwest.

Kenora Rainy-River MPP Sarah Campbell clashed with Natural Resources Minister Bill Mauro over funding for flood victims on the Rainy River and Lake of the Woods.

Campbell described a landscape of flooded homes and highway washouts, with 10 communities declaring a state of emergency in just her riding.

Campbell asked the Wynne government for timelines when funding would flow to help the waterlogged communities, which have been struggling for nearly a month now.

Mauro did not commit to a timeline, but did say he has been in contact with what he called the "three affected communities" of Kenora, Fort Frances and Atikokan.

He also defended his government's record on addressing 2012 flooding in Thunder Bay.

Emergency Management Control Groups along the Rainy River were in a holding pattern Monday, and officials in Fort Frances say the flood threat has begun to stabilize.
