Rainy River OPP seize handgun, arrest Fort Frances man

Ontario Provincial Police became aware of a handgun last September and on Sunday, Feb. 7, police announced the arrest of a 49-year-old man.

FORT FRANCES, Ont., — A 49-year-old man is facing firearm-related charges following an investigation that began in September 2020.

In a news release issued on Sunday, Feb. 7, Rainy River OPP say they became aware of a handgun in possession of a member of the public last fall.

The handgun was seized at the time and the investigation continued. 

Chad Bruyere, 49, of Fort Frances has been charged with one count of unauthorized importation of a restricted firearm, and possession of a restricted firearm.

Bruyere will attend court on March 1 to answer to these charges.

Treaty Three Police Service and the Organized Enforcement Bureau assisted OPP in the investigation.
