Random attack sends 62-year-old to hospital

Suspect found after allegedly breaking into a nearby home.

THUNDER BAY – A random attack against a 62-year-old McKellar Street South resident has led to the arrest of a 30-year-old man.

Police said the suspect was captured after allegedly breaking into a nearby home in the 200 block of Vickers Street South, where they learned the two incidents were connected.

Police said upon arriving at the first home, the victim was injured and sitting on a snow bank, after being attacked at random.

He was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Ryan Milton Winters was charged with aggravated assault and mischief.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and was held in custody pending a future court date.
