IGNACE, Ont. – A tight mayoral race is getting a second look.
A recount will be conducted after incumbent Lee Kennard held on to the mayor’s seat by a mere 12 votes over challenger Kimberley Baigrie during their municipal election.
Earlier this week Ignace council passed a resolution to approve a recount of Monday’s vote totals.
Kennard received 359 votes compared to 347 for Baigrie.
The town’s returning officer has 15 days to complete the recount.
