The Canadian Red Cross has kicked off a major fundraising campaign in this region.
The first tickets have been sold for the upcoming 17th Annual Northern Raffle. The 10-dollar ticket gives the purchaser a chance to win this year's grand prize, which is a 2012 Nissan Murano.
Also up for grabs is a 2012 Polaris Sportsman ATV, as well as five, $1,000 cash prizes.
Proceeds from tickets purchased here in Thunder Bay go toward the local Red Cross Disaster Management Program.
Co-ordinator Ken Widdifield said program volunteers provide an essential service to those forced out of their home because of a fire or other disaster.
Tickets are available at Halfway Motors on Memorial Avenue, the local Red Cross office on Barton Street and various other locations.
They're on sale until March of 2012, with the draw taking place at the end of that month.
