Police in Red Lake have ruled a recent death in that community as non suspicious.

Officers with the Red Lake detachment of the OPP, with assistance from the North West Region Crime Unit and the Criminal Investigation Branch, conducted the investigation into the death of Bertha Quill, 46, of Pikangikum.

Police say Quill, who was residing in Red Lake at the time of her death, was found outside near Howey Street on July 12. She was said to be unconscious and unresponsive.

She was transported to the Red Lake Hospital, and later flown to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where she died from her injuries.

Following an investigation, police have concluded that the death was the result of natural causes.

The death has been deemed as non suspicious and police say no further criminal investigation is warranted.
