Red River hosts most housing starts

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released data concluding that Thunder Bay’s housing starts by 0.6 per cent. Red River ward had the highest number of starts – 45 units.

"It is the second consecutive year that Red River was has held down the top spot in the census metropolitan area," CMHC’s Market Analyst Warren Philp said. "Despite the slower economic, low mortgage rates and a reasonably tight resale market have provided good conditions for the new home market over the past year."

About 41 starts were recorded in the Neebing Ward, while the McIntyre ward had 35 units. Philp said starts outside the city limits jumped to 40 units.
