A court case involving Red Rock Mill Inc. and the company's president, Robert Van Patten, has been pushed back once again.

The company and Van Patten have been charged with nine offences under the Environmental Protection Act. The matter was in court this past week in Nipigon and put over until Aug. 16 in Thunder Bay.

In October, Red Rock Mill Inc. and Van Patten were charged with failing to provide continuous security at the mill, failing to submit a report regarding waste stored on-site, and failure to confirm in writing a continuous electricity supply at the mill site, among other alleged offences.

The charges follow an investigation by the Ministry of Environment’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.

Van Patten is expected to enter a plea on Aug. 16.

An MOE official says if a guilty plea is entered, fines will be handed down. Otherwise the matter will go to trial.
