Remote First Nations receive donated cleaning supplies (2 Photos)

Hatch delivered hundreds of bins full of cleaning supplies to Webequie and Marten Falls

THUNDER BAY — Residents of two remote First Nations in northwestern Ontario have received some help from a private-sector company to deal with the fight against COVID-19.

Hatch arranged for the delivery last weekend of 300 containers of household cleaning supplies to Webequie and Marten Falls.

The shipment was enough to last every household in the two communities for up to six months.

Webequie and Marten Falls are fly-in communities.

In a news release, Hatch spokesperson Chelsie Klassen said "We can all recall the feeling of going to local stores and seeing empty shelves for the first time during COVID-19. Imagine having empty shelves and the only way to get to the next store is by airplane."

Klassen added "Everyone should have access to supplies needed to keep their families safe."
