OTTAWA – It appears it took just two days for Thunder Bay goaltender Matt Murray to sign a new deal with his new team, the Ottawa Senators.

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the 26-year-old Murray has inked a four-year contract with the Senators, valued at $25 million.

The deal, McKenzie said, includes a 10-team no-trade contract.

According to the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch, Murray will get $4 million in 2020-21, $6 million in 2021-22, $7 million in 2022-23 and $8 million in 2023-24, for an average cap hit of $6.25 million.

Murray, who became a restricted free agent on Friday, was dealt to the Senators on Wednesday by Pittsburgh in return for a second-round pick in this year’s draft and prospect Jonathan Gruden, who suited up for the London Knights this past season.

Murray, the third Thunder Bay player traded this off-season, had a 20-11-5 record in 38 games with the Penguins in 2019-20, with a 2.87 goals against average and a career-low .899 save percentage.
