THUNDER BAY -- Residential home values in Thunder Bay continue to climb.

Among the key findings of the RE/MAX 2018 Housing Market Outlook report, the average sale price of homes in Thunder Bay in 2017 topped $252,000 and an increase of eight per cent from 2016.

The market was being driven by young families, who were mainly first-time buyers entering the market who were looking for both single-detached homes and condominiums.

On the downside, demand for higher-end homes fell.

The report attributes this to lower demand from Thunder Bay's aging population.

The report predicts residential sale prices will remain stable in 2018.
