Restaurant robberies leads to arrest

THUNDER BAY -- A 23-year-old was arrested after two Red River Road restaurants were robbed overnight.

Officers were called to Domino's Pizza at 12:40 a.m. early Wednesday after an employee reported that a man had entered the store and demanded money while holding a heavy object. He fled the pizzeria with some cash.

At 4:15 a.m., officers received a report of a man at another location on Red River Road. The man demanded money from a McDonald's drive-thru window while holding an object. The window was closed and the man fled.

The suspect matching the description provided by victims was located in the Junot Avenue and Walkover Street area, and arrested after a short struggle.

The man was charged with resisting arrest, robbery, robbery with violence, disguise with intent, and two counts of breach of undertaking.

He appeared in court Wednesday morning.
