THUNDER BAY – ReStore Days started Thursday in an effort to help reduce how much goes into the landfill while also raising money to help local people in need.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore will be at the Thunder Bay Solid Waste and Recycling Facility on Mapleward road from May 9 May 11.

“We collect the goods and then we clean them up and try to refurbish them,” said Todd Davis, ReStore manager.

“Then we sell them and the profits that go from the ReStore goes to supporting Habitat's mission for building homes and helping families in need.”

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., residents visiting the landfill can donate gently used building materials, appliances, cabinets, furniture, tools, plumbing and electrical materials to Habitat for Humanity’s drop-off area.

Residents who will not be visiting the landfill during ReStore Days are encouraged to donate their used items to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 660 Squier St.

“You could come by the ReStore six days a week. We're open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for donations and to shop in the store 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,” Davis said.

“We take any kind of household goods, we take construction supplies, we even take paint sometimes. So please come by and donate. It's a great cause to help further our mission for Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay, building homes for people in need.”
