Restricted access due to Red Lake forest fire

As fire crews continue to battle Red Lake 49, MNRF restricts access to area

RED LAKE, Ont. – Red Lake/Ear Falls OPP want to remind residents of the Implementation Order that has been issued.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry issued an Implementation Order Friday morning due to extreme forest fire activity.

All non-essential personnel are restricted from travel, use and access to:

Starrett-Olsen
Madsen
Red Lake
Balmertown
Cochenour
McKenzie Island
Highway 105 and Bug River including all side roads to residential areas and tourist camps
Highway 618 from the junction of Highway 105 up to and including Starrett-Olsen as well as the Suffel Lake Road to the Flat Lake culvert
Highway 125 and all municipal roads and access roads off of Highway 125 including Nungesser Road to the intersection of East Bay Road (Rubicon Road)

OPP officers are staffing checkpoints to monitor access until such time that the MNRF revokes the order.

No person shall enter those areas and all non-essential personnel in those identified areas must evacuate immediately, unless authorized by a travel permit issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
