THUNDER BAY – The standings suggest it was a season to forget for the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
But even though the team struggled to a 2-14 regular-season record, guard Tiffany Reynolds’ play shone through, resulting in the fourth-year forward on Wednesday being named an OUA West second-team all-star.
Reynolds finished 14th in the league, averaging 12.9 points a night, on a team that averaged just 54.3 points per game, third lowest in the 18-team circuit, including a career-high 26 on Feb. 19 against Algoma.
That was second-best on the Thunderwolves behind Sofia Lluch, the Spanish import who left the team mid-season.
Reynolds also averaged six rebounds and 4.6 assists a night, along with two steals per game, averaging 31.9 minutes per appearance, the fourth highest total in the OUA.
Her 64 assists were tops in the league.
Reynolds has averaged 8.4 points per game over four seasons for LU.
