Residents in Oliver-Paipoonge celebrated the opening of a new library branch Thursday evening.
Although it’s been running since February, the Rosslyn branch of the Oliver-Paipoonge Public Library officially opened Thursday. The new building, attached to the Rosslyn Village Community Centre, has been attracting new patrons every day since moving from its temporary location upstairs at the centre said library board chairperson Jackie Cearnes.
"It’s all one floor which is nice," Cearnes said. "It’s doubled if not tripled the amount of people we used to get in the old one."
The library features more computers and a larger collection she added.
"Now if we could just afford to stay open more hours that would be nice," laughed Cearnes.
The $300,000 project was funded through the Infrastructure Stimulus fund which the federal, provincial and municipal governments each paying $100,000.
