ROSSLYN -- A Rosslyn man who has been playing the lottery for a quarter of a century has hit a million-dollar jackpot.
Marnie Comegan of Rosslyn on Friday was revealed as the winner of a Max Millions prize from the Dec. 22 Max Millions draw. He also won $20 on another Lotto Max selection on the same ticket and $2 on his Encore selection bringing his total winnings to $1,000,022.
“I went to the ticket checker at first and couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he said in a release issued by OLG. “I proceeded to give the ticket to the retailer, who confirmed the ticket was a winner."
He quickly ran outside to share the news with his wife, Christine.
“I said ‘I won a million dollars!’ and she said ‘no you didn’t.'"
He then showed his wife the validation slip to prove it.
“We were so excited,” Comegan said. “It was very emotional for us and our family. We called our children right away to tell them the wonderful news.”
The winner plans to pay off his mortgage and invest in his family's future.
"We are also planning a trip to beautiful Hawaii,” he smiled. “I am looking forward to enjoying this win.”
He purchased his ticket at Metro on Governor’s Road in Dundas.
