The CEO of the region’s hospital says there are no facts behind rumours that senior managers were fired.

Rumours circulating the community insinuated that the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre’s Lori Marshall, acting vice-president of patient care and health professions, and Scott Potts, executive vice-president of corporate and diagnostic services, were terminated.

The hospital announced last week that Potts would be resigning from his post but gave no details as to the reason for his departure.

Hospital CEO Andree Robichaud confirmed Wednesday that Marshall would also be leaving, but said both were leaving on their own to pursue other employment opportunities.

“I know there’s a lot of speculation, there’s a lot of rumours out there,” Robichaud said. “I don’t know all the (rumours) and I’m not interested in knowing them. All I can tell you are the facts.

“People need to judge people on facts and not innuendos and not on rumours. Scott and Lori have been great ambassadors. They have done wonders for this organization.”

She added that Marshall will be taking the summer off to spend time with her family before moving into the operational side of management instead of planning.

Robichaud called Marshall and Potts her right and left hands. With both gone, she said it’s now up to her and the entire team to step up the plate. She stressed that patient care wasn’t going to be affected.

“We’re going to have to recruit one or two new vice-presidents,” she said. “People come and people go. We’re a team here. These people are doing the nitty gritty, they know their stuff. I got to do a little bit more and spent a little bit more hours here but that’s what I have to do as a CEO. Everyone is stepping up to the plate.”

Robichaud suspected that departures won’t impact donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation but urged anyone with concerns to come to her so she can address them.
