Rural bus routes cancelled, some schools closed

Crestview, Valley Central, Gorham and Ware, Whitefish Valley and Kakabeka Falls public elementary schools won't open because of weather.

THUNDER BAY -- A late winter storm has led to the cancellation of all rural school bus routes on Thursday morning.

Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay said the expected snowfall of 10 centimetres to 15 centimetre throughout the day also means five rural schools will be closed.

Students at Crestview, Valley Central, Gorham and Ware, Whitefish Valley and Kakabeka Falls public schools will have the day off.

Norwesterview, McKenzie and Five Mile elementary schools remain open, but wihtout bus service.

All Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and CSDC des Aurores boreales school are closed because of ongoing strike action.
