THUNDER BAY -- Students who use rural school bus transportation routes to get to school are on their own to make their way to the classroom on Thursday morning.

Student Transportation Services Thunder Bay announced that all rural school bus routes have been cancelled for the day, due to poor road conditions.

Widespread power outages have also led to the closure of Valley Central, Crestview, Gorham and Ware, Kakbeka Falls and Whitefish Valley public schools.

City schools under all three school board are open and buses are running as scheduled, though the Thunder Bay Catholic District School board said all wheelchair accessible buses have been cancelled for the day
