THUNDER BAY - Students who take rural bus routes to school are on their own to get to class on Monday. Those attending rural schools can enjoy a three-day weekend.

Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay announced they've cancelled all rural bus routes after a spring storm dumped a significant amount of snow on the city.

Lakehead Public Schools has decided to shut down six rural schools, including Crestview, Valley Central, Gorham and Ware, Kakabeka Falls, McKenzie and Whitefish Valley. All Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and CSDC des Aurores boreales schools remain open.
