THUNDER BAY — Like many organizations across the city, the Salvation Army is trying to continue to fund staple programs for the foreseeable future.
In an effort to raise more cash, the Journey to Life Centre is hosting an event which will have former CBC and CTV journalist and broadcaster, Valerie Pringle, speak at the event coming up on June 7.
Pringle will be speaking about "her own journey and her family's journey with mental health," says Gary Ferguson, the executive director of Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre Thunder Bay. He says her talk will be exciting "considering the challenges that we face in our community."
Proceeds from the dinner will help the centre's various programs, including its transitional and supportive housing programs, the soup van as well as many other community programs.
Tickets for the dinner are still available through the Salvation Army's website, and Ferguson says they are looking to fill the hall at the Valhalla Inn for the event which can seat upwards of 400 people.
A portion of the dinner tickets is considered a donation for tax purposes.
