THUNDER BAY – A last minute push has vaulted the local chapter of the Salvation Army past its $200,000 kettle campaign target.

In fact, they passed it with flying colours, raising a total of $223,442.

“Thunder Bay, you have done it again. You answered our call and because of you, life will be better for so many of your neighbours,” said executive director Major Lori Mitchell, in a release issued on Saturday evening.  “On their behalf I thank you so much for your generosity. Thank you to our hundreds of volunteers who gave so selflessly of their time and to our donors who have shown such confidence in us.

“Together we are making a difference to many worthy people in our community.”

Donations to the kettle campaign are still being accepted online at www.fillthekettle.com, at the local Salvation Army office, or via mail.
