SIOUX LOOKOUT -- A 15-year-old boy is being treated for serious injuries after being hit by a train west of Sioux Lookout.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train, approximately 4 kilometers west of Sioux Lookout.
Officers attended the scene, and along with the assistance of the Lac Seul Police Service, and the Northwest Emergency Medical Services, rescue efforts were conducted.
The 15-year-old male from Sandy Lake was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The circumstances of the collision is still being investigated, but alcohol consumption by the pedestrian was a contributing factor.
