City of Thunder Bay News Release

December 1, 2016 – Transit Services and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966 are teaming up to spread goodwill in our community with the 22nd Annual Santa Bus Food Drive in support of the Thunder Bay Food Bank.

From Monday, Dec. 5, until Sunday, Dec. 11, the community is invited to drop-off dry goods on any City bus.

“Each year we are blown away by the generosity of all those who help us to stuff the bus,” said Ken Koza, Amalgamated Transit Union 966 President.

“The donations we receive make a real difference in our community. We hope residents will continue to embrace the Santa Bus Food Drive so that we can make sure nobody goes hungry this holiday season.”

The Santa Bus will also be available to receive donations at Metro Grocery Stores: River Street location, Saturday, Dec. 10, 12 pm – 8 pm, and Arthur Street location, Sunday, Dec. 11, 12 pm – 8 pm.

Santa Bus, in aid of the Thunder Bay Food Bank, is an opportunity for Transit employees to join the public to bring joy and happiness to others this holiday season.

The Thunder Bay Food Bank supplies emergency help to people in need, and when possible, helps other organizations with food supply. The need is always greater in the winter and especially over the holidays.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966 and Transit Services has served the community of Thunder Bay with safe, reliable, economical, and enviro-friendly Transit services for over 120 years.
