School board spots awarded

Frank Grant was the odd-man out in the English Public School Board trustee race. Grant was the only one of nine candidates not to make the cut on Monday, falling about 650 short of the cut-off line to win a spot on the board.

Grant was the only one of nine candidates not to make the cut on Monday, falling about 650 short of the cut-off line to win a spot on the board.

Re-elected for four-year terms were Ron Oikonen, who topped the chart with 12,998 votes, Karen Wilson, Deborah Massaro, Lori Lukinuk and George Saarinen. New to the table are Jack Playford, who failed to gain a seat in 2006, Marg Arnone and Pat Johansen.

In the English Separate School Board trustee hunt, Kathy O’Brien, Bob Hupka, Don Cattani, Tony Romeo, Eleanor Ashe and Robert DeGangne all won seats.

O’Brien led the way with 5,108 votes.

Anne-Marie Gelineault was acclaimed as the French Public Board representative, while Diane Breton, Claudette Gleeson, Serge Paradis and Lina Mayer took the four French Separate School Board slots.
