UPDATED: School-bus service cancelled for the morning

THUNDER BAY —Cold temperatures have led to the cancelling of all school-bus service for the morning, and the closure of several rural schools and one school in the city. 

In the rural area, Crestview, Gorham and Ware, Whitefish Valley, Kakabeka,Valley Central and McKenzie are closed.

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board also closed St. Elizabeth School. There is no heat in the building  due to the failure of the boiler.

Bus service will resume in the afternoon. 

The Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay made the decision to keep buses off the road when the windchill dipped below -40 C on Monday morning. 

Parents are responsible for getting children to classes in the morning, or arranging child care in the event classes are cancelled at their child’s school.
