THUNDER BAY – Winter weather has resulted in the cancellation of all school bus routes and the closure of several rural schools on Tuesday, Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay has announced.
The announcement, coming after Environment Canada issued a snow squall watch for the area, affects school bus service for the Lakehead District School Board, Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, and CSDC des Aurores boreales.
School closures include Crestview, Valley Central, Whitefish Valley, Gorham and Ware, and Kakabeka Falls public schools, STSTB stated.
Nor’Westerview, Five Mile and McKenzie schools remain open with no busing.
Environment Canada upgraded its weather advisory to a snow squall warning early Tuesday morning, projecting accumulations of 15 to 25 centimetres of snow.
Heavy flurries were expected to continue through the morning before weakening early Tuesday afternoon.
