School buses won't run because of cold temperatures

With temperatures dipping below -30 C, high school students will learn virtually on Tuesday, while elementary schools remain open for students.

THUNDER BAY -- Morning and noon school buses have been cancelled because of extreme cold temperatures in Thunder Bay.

Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay said in a release that all mainstream high school students will take their classes virtually on Tuesday, but that all elementary schools are open and bus service will be available to take them home in the afternoon.

High schools are also open for special education students.

Crossing guard services have also been suspended for the morning.

As of 7:30 a.m. the temperature in Thunder Bay was -36 C, according to Environment Canada. The city is under an extreme cold warning.
