Even though school is out for the summer, those looking to beat the heat at the city’s outdoor pools will have to wait a couple more days.
Dease Pool, Widnall Pool and Heath Park Pool will remain closed for maintenance and water conditioning.
The pools traditionally open their gates for the summer season on the last day of school. However, the Thunder Bay and District Health Unit is scheduled to perform further water testing at the three facilities on Tuesday.
The public will be informed when these pools are ready to be opened.
Meanwhile, after multiple delays, the splash pad in County Park now has an opening date. The city announced Friday that the third splash pad in Thunder Bay will have the water turned on next Friday.
Co-ordinator of park planning Werner Schwar says building permits and waste water concerns were just two of the issues that delayed the project. But they're relieved to finally have it done.
Schwar adds they're planning on building three more splash pads in the city...bringing the total to six. The locations of the next ones are North End, the James Street playfield and the Westfort area.
